Forming authentic relationships through personal storytelling

Two or More is a six-week, small group process designed to deepen our relationship with others, the sacred, and ourselves. In each meeting, we are invited to share personal stories inspired by the life of Jesus—an archetype for the journey of the human soul. Story prompts are deep, evocative, and non-religious, inviting soulful reflection on our individual journeys. Through listening to the life experiences of others, the group forms compassionate connections and expands awareness of the struggles, insights, and breakthroughs. Each gathering offers an opportunity to pause, breathe, share stories, listen deeply, reflect mindfully on what matters most, and together discern how we are being invited to become more loving, more human, more free.

Gathering Structure:

  • Opening Check-In

  • Centering Meditation or Grounding Practice

  • Story Sharing: Each participant has several minutes to share a personal story based on a guiding question (e.g. “Tell about sharing a meaningful meal with others.”) These questions will be thematically tied to the story of Jesus. While the questions are curated, the stories are not; they are honest and real as told in the moment. As listeners, we will quietly hold space and bear witness to each other.

  • After everyone has shared we will have open conversation around our experience—what has shifted or changed within us through the listening and the telling.

  • Mapping the narrative arc of the soul’s journey through the life of Jesus, we will explore alternative readings of the Jesus story, connecting to our lived experience.

  • We will close contemplating how this experience might shift our intentions for the week ahead.

  • Closing Ritual

Our Story

This story circle is made free by part of a larger project called The Austin Story Project. Created by Austin Seminary (Austin, Texas) in partnership with The Hearth Community (Ashland, OR), the project comes from a commitment to belonging, enchantment and transformation through stories. The experience includes the listening and telling our own stories of being human, connected with the archetypal spiritual story of Jesus. We attempt to discover fresh stories of life more than what we can buy, sell or consume. The Austin Story Project is part of a national initiative funded by Lilly Endowment.
